Day 29: South Green

Over to South Green, the place I lived in for 9 years. Well I actually remember living in Great Burstead, and I never found South Green on any maps, but then they put the village sign on the green which we called South Green (it was just a green, not a town!) and then a few years ago Basildon Borough Council put up a number of signs welcoming drivers to "Great Burstead and South Green", as if it was one place. Most of the signs are way outside the accepted local wisdom of where Great Burstead or South Green are.

I had a long walk up Greens Farm Road to Chapel Street, past the old Rose Hall (where I used to go to meetings of the Billericay Scrabble Club 20 years ago!) and then past Sun Corner Mill Meadows (somewhere I *still* haven't been to) and down the hill in Southend Road. It was quite a punishing walk in terms of elevation - the most I have done this year.
