There's a lot of "private", "residents only" etc signs throughout the estate. Even though it's not actually private property, they kind of wish that people like me couldn't go walking through!
I headed up from Hanging Hill Lane, down Ridgeway, Woodway and Priests Lane and found myself at the tiny Courage Playing Fields. On the other side of this little park is the parish church of St Mary the Virgin, which still counts itself in Shenfield although the scenery changes dramatically and it's very much outside town now.
