Never been to Newmarket before. I decided to go there for a day out on Dec 27 but two accidents on the M11 paid put to that idea, and I ended up in Braintree instead. Managed to get there with a clear run in just over an hour today.
Some of the photos are a little bit blurry as I'm still getting to grips with my new S7 Edge. The photos on HDR mode didn't look too good. It's possible the lens was a bit dirty too!
Walking from the town centre to the racecourses was very easy, as I was walking for a lot of the time down one of the many wide bridleways designated for the purpose. When I got to the Rowley Mile it was even easier. There was virtually no one around. I think I saw two horses.
Afterwards I had lunch in the White Hart in the High Street, although the food was nothing special and the barman was quite sneery. If I'd looked online beforehand, where the business describes itself in its Google listing as a "buzzy gastropub" I would definitely have given it a wide berth!
