A little piece of Brighton in the corner of Essex; the walk along Chalkwell Esplanade is always a pleasure. (Well it inexplicably changes its name to The Leas and then Western Esplanade, but it's still the same Esplanade).
I usually park up in the long car park behind the railway station which Google still thinks is part of Chalkwell Esp. It's a really easy straight line walk, past the Crowstone, past a Jamie Oliver place which I have never really looked closely at, past a casino and then almost up to Adventure Island.
The weather was very odd today. Clear but hazy, so you could see around you with no problem, but you couldn't see the Isle of Grain, three miles away across the wide Thames estuary, with its many factories and smokestacks normally clearly visible. It made the whole walk seem really beautiful too. Hardly anyone walking around too which is always good!
